Braving the Icy Tundra: Winter Campaign Ideas

Populate the icy wilds with characters that feel right at home in the cold:

Ice Spirits – Soft, shaggy little snow-dwellers who shuffle through blizzards with a gentle glow, their wide grins and curious chatter lighting the tundra like friendly winter sprites.

Walrusk Fisherman – A fur-clad local guide with more knowledge than he lets on. Ideal as a quest-giver or a begrudging travelling companion.

Main Campaign Idea: The Storm-Heart Awakens

For generations, the Winter Tundra has been battered by storms that seemed to form from nowhere. But now those storms are growing stronger - and stranger. Local hunters report seeing shimmering figures within the blizzards, and even the Walrusk Fisherman admits the ice behaves differently, groaning and shifting as though stirred from within.

When the adventurers investigate, they uncover the source: a colossal crystal “heart” buried deep beneath the tundra, pulsing with ancient elemental magic. The Ice Spirits are guardians of this relic, trying to warn travellers that something is disturbing it - something powerful enough to twist the natural storms into raging tempests.

Unfortunately, the Abominable Snowman has become corrupted by the storm-energy leaking from the heart. Once a peaceful giant and protector of the land, it now rampages blindly through the whiteouts, lashing out in confusion and pain.

To save the tundra, the party must:

🔍 Decipher the Ice Spirits’ fragmented clues.

🗺️ Navigate the ruins encased within the Frozen Pillars.

📍 Locate the hidden igloo settlement where a hermit knows how to reach the crystal heart .

⚔️ Confront the Abominable Snowman - either by calming the creature, subduing it, or harnessing its strength to restore balance.

This campaign offers a mix of mystery, exploration, diplomacy, and combat, all set against a backdrop of relentless snow and ancient power.

Objective Ideas

❄️ The Haunting of the Frosted Pines

Ice Spirits have begun appearing around a cluster of frozen pines, whispering warnings in forgotten languages. Are they guarding something – or urging adventurers to turn back?

❄️ The Fisherman’s Last Catch

The Walrusk Fisherman begs the party to recover his prized catch: a legendary silver-scaled fish dragged beneath the ice by an unseen creature.

❄️ The Terror in the Whiteout

Travellers have vanished during sudden, unnatural whiteouts. Survivors speak of a colossal silhouette moving within the storm – an Abominable Snowman whose roar cuts through the winds. The Walrusk Fisherman fears the creature is growing bolder. But confronting it may require deciphering the Ice Spirits' cryptic warnings about what truly fuels its rage.
