Koi Dragon: Miniature Spotlight

Koi Dragon: Miniature Spotlight

Rising from a rocky ocean base with flowing fins, trailing whiskers, and scales layered like something straight out of Eastern mythology, the Koi Dragon is the kind of model that stops you mid-scroll. We picked it as this week's highlight because we recently finished painting one ourselves as a gift for a dragon-loving family member, and it reminded us just how striking this sculpt is in hand.

Why We Love It

There's a real elegance to the Koi Dragon that sets it apart from the usual fire-breathing menace. The serpentine body, the delicate fins, the way the whole pose reads as more graceful guardian than rampaging monster; it's a dragon that could just as easily watch over a temple as be fought at the climax of a quest. At 166mm tall on a 100mm base, it's also got the scale to properly command a shelf, a table, or an encounter.

Ideal For

  • A campaign boss encounter - an imposing ancient water dragon to guard a sacred site or challenge the party at the climax of a quest
  • A tranquil temple or shrine guardian- fits naturally into misty mountains, rivers, or forgotten shrine settings
  • A celestial or spirit protector - works well beyond a straightforward "monster," as a benevolent or ambiguous figure
  • A display centrepiece - striking enough to stand alone as a painting project or collector's piece, gift-worthy for any dragon fan
